Hello
I was born in Chicago a proud Italian American of Sicilian and Barese descent. Joe Fiorentino and sister Rita and brother Michael grew up on the north side of the city where my family and relatives would have big Italian Dinners on the Weekends. I attended Roosevelt High School where I was a All-City Football Player and member of Roosevelt High School Sports Hall of Fame I received a Football scholarship to University of Evansville. I started taking Martial Arts in 1977 with Judo. I have been training since 1983 under Shihan Eddie Yoshimura at Shidokan Chicago where I am a Black Belt. Training in the MMA/Grappling Class. I have fought MMA, Pankration and Grappling Tournaments with my lovely wife Heidi always by my side. A 8-Time NAGA North American Grappling Championships and 3-Time Midwest Jiu-Jitsu Tournament Heavyweight Champion. Winning over 50 fights. At the Arnold Grappling Championships with Governor Arnold in Attendance I beat a formerly unbeaten fighter who was 90 pounds heavier at 308lbs in the Heavyweight Division Finals. 2008 #1 Ranked Director Division Grappler in the Nation. In August 2009 I am being inducted into The United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame. I use my Martial Arts skills along with Sensei Duane Sharp to teach Self Defense to Boy scouts, Cub scouts and fellow Officers. I was awarded The Presidents Volunteer Service Award from President Obama I also received a Gold President's Pin, and the NRLO National Reserve Law Officers Outstanding Service Award. I work as a Cook County Deputy Sheriff External Operations Unit for 12 years I am a Certified Defensive Tactics Instructor where my skills have come in use as a Officer. A Member of the Italian American Police Association of Illinois, NIAF, and National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame. My Wife Heidi who also helps and sometimes trains with me is my #1 Fan.

The Italian American Police Association of Illinois honored Joe Fiorentino with the 2010 Officer Achievement Award Oct. 23, 2010 in recognition for his dedication and accomplishments in the community. Award presented by founder and Chairman of the Board Ralph DeBartolo at the 47th Anniversary Dinner Dance with over 500 people in attendance.
