Candice Marie Winters
Candice Marie was born in Long Beach, California in 1988 to Mira Mango
Winters, a first generation Italian-American. Candice was raised in
Irvine, a suburb of Los Angeles in Orange County. She was an active
child who participated in many sports among which basketball and
swimming were her favorites. Always aware of her Italian heritage,
Candice frequented the homeland often in her childhood as she has
family living in Gorizia, Verona and Roma.
After a private school upbringing, Candice spent four busy years at
University High School. She juggled her time between basketball,
water polo and swim teams, editor of the school newspaper, member of
council and Associated Student Body (ASB) all four years as well as
the founder of a mentoring program for the school. Her senior year,
Candice became a contributing writer for The Orange County Register
for whom she wrote bi-weekly movie reviews.
A current college student at the University of Southern California,
Candice got the bug for film and writing. Double majoring in
Cinema-Television Critical Studies and Broadcast Journalism, she has
had numerous internships and work experiences that have helped her
narrow down the career path she will pursue. As an intern and
eventually as a production assistant for KTLA 5 The CW, the local
news affiliate in Los Angeles, Candice gained experience attending
red carpet events and conducting on-camera interviews for the
station. She also currently writes film reviews as well as a weekly
column for Campus Circle, a paper that circulates throughout Los
Angeles County.
Post-graduation, Candice hopes to continue writing about film. She
is particularly grateful for her family, friends, education and, of
course, her Italian heritage which is so much of who she is today.
